Women in the History of Quantum Mechanics – Frauen in der Geschichte der Quantenmechanik

Under the title ‘Women in the History of Quantum Mechanics: The Project and its New Insights’, internationally recognized physics historians will present their research project on the contributions of female scientists to quantum mechanics. An overview of the entire project will be presented as well as case studies on Hertha Sponer, Elizabath Monroe and Grete Herrmann. This will be followed by a round of discussion.

The event will be held in English.

It is part of a one-day symposium on the history of quantum physics in the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. It is jointly organized by the German Physical Society and the History Group of the European Physical Society.

It will be followed by a visit to the special exhibition „What the Quantum?!“.

Admission is free of charge. Registration is not required.

Unter dem Titel „Women in the History of Quantum Mechanics: The Project and its New Insights“ präsentieren international ausgewiesene Physikhistoriker*innen ihr Forschungsprojekt zu den Beiträgen von Wissenschaftlerinnen zur Quantenmechanik. Dabei wird es einen Überblick über das gesamte Projekt geben, es werden aber auch Fallstudien zu Hertha Sponer, Elizabath Monroe und Grete Herrmann präsentiert. Darauf folgt eine Diskussionsrunde.

Die Veranstaltung ist in englischer Sprache.

Diese Veranstaltung ist Teil eines eintägigen Symposiums zur Geschichte der Quantenphysik im Internationalen Jahr der Quantenwissenschaft und Quantentechnologie. Sie wird gemeinsam vom Fachverband der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft und der History Group der Europäischen Physikalischen Gesellschaft veranstaltet.

Im Anschluss ist ein Besuch der Sonderausstellung „Was zum Quant?!“ möglich.

Der Eintritt ist kostenfrei. Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
